Consider the following options for naming your pages and posts.

  • In order rank well, you should put your primary keywords as close to the front of the page as possible. Search engines simply prefer this placement rather than keywords used further down the page
  • If you want to generate more traffic then you need to place your keywords in a way that people will naturally gravitate to what you write. To do this, you should have your primary keywords listed on each of your pages. In addition, because the US tendency is to read from left to right, having your keyword placed as close to the first word as possible will result in more clicks

#2 – Image Optimization

SEO for WordPress should include adding keywords to your images. Tag your images and name your images as well by using your primary keyword.

#3 – Link Optimization

Using your primary keywords in your embedded text is important. This is true whether you are linking to your own site pages, product or to an outside site as an affiliate.

#4 – Headings

You will find that when you use a WordPress template it will probably already be correct when it comes to using the correct heading tag. It is vital, however, that you make sure that your post title an. When it comes to your frontpage, this should apply to your blog’s name as well. The reason for this is that search engines are very particular about headings not just on your posts but on your blogs as well. Again, you shouldn’t have to do anything here because WordPress has an automatic feature for this part.

#5 – Sidebar Widgets

If you’re looking to increase internal linking on your site as well as your keyword density, widgets are a great option for SEO for Wordpress. This ability to add widgets is present in WordPress; however, a good rule is to use Categories and Recent Posts, especially if you are making many posts on your site.

#6 – Pages versus Posts

Updating your site can be a pain if you don’t set it up right. That is why pages are the preferred method for your important information, articles, etc. while posts are great for any daily or regular updates. The reason for this is that pages are updated directly in the page and then you create a post that links to the update.

#7 – Linking to Your WordPress Pages

When it comes to SEO for WordPress you must link internally between pages. You should link a new post to older content, link a post about a product to the product, and so on. When Google spiders crawl, they are touching the links multiple times in different areas, which gives them more importance, which in turn increases your ranking. Old content is given more importance because it is linked to again.

WordPress also offers plugin’s that basically do the same thing. It attaches one post to other related posts, no matter how old they are. This, again, provides more importance to older links, (which lose importance in rankings if not continually linked to over time), providing more exposure to your links, which in turns works towards your goal of a higher ranking in Google.

#8 – Getting Readers Involved

Getting comments from readers can be very influential with search engines. Their comments, as long as they are relevant to your posts can even become content for your site that has the potential of being recognized by search engines.

Creating backlinks is your goal and you can get other people to backlink to your site if they like and enjoy your content. You want to do your best to get people to want to comment.

Remember that content is king, this is a very simple concept that many people fail to implement in their posts. Take the time to ask people for their comments; letting them know you’re interested can actually generate interest (often one comment leads to more). Don’t understatement the benefit it will have for your SEO for WordPress.

When people comment on your posts, it helps to keep your content fresh. You get better rankings with search engines like Google (and others) when your content appears to be updated. In addition, these search engines will then crawl through your site again to look for other updated content, thus helping to improve your ranking further.

#9 – Twitter

Tweets are more popular than email these days and has become a popular way to get people to link to your site. In addition, your own created links from such a high profile website increases your own rankings. The goal is not only to get people to read your tweets and link back to your site but to also generate buzz about your blog.

#10 – Using Related Blogs

If you’re looking to give your WordPress blog a shot in the arm, then you should go to some of the top blog search engines to find blogs that are related to your specific keywords. In addition, you want to find the most popular blogs as well. Once you’ve done this, all you need to do is post your own comments on their blogs. Ensure that your comments are relevant as you may want to develop a relationship with the other blog owners and create links to them as they link to you (hence improving your own ranking and theirs as well).

Getting Backlinks with Ten Easy Tips

1. Article Submissions – Relevant articles regarding your website on websites that generate a lot of traffic are considered to be high quality backlinks. Not only are you creating one-way anchor text links but because the articles are relevant to your site this can create interest from your readers as well.

2. Submit to Directories – Choose directories that are high ranked themselves and have established themselves on the Internet (that means they’ve been around for a while).

3. RSS Feeds – In order to increase your traffic as well as inbound links it is wise to use as many RSS feeds as possible using RSS feed companies that specialize in grouping similar links together.

4. Videos – YouTube has changed the way that many people advertise and with embedded links you are link building as well as creating an ad of some sort for your website. In addition, if it catches on, then it can become viral, spreading across the Internet without you having to do a thing.

5. Social Sites – Easy and free, you can use sites like Facebook and Twitter to create profile pages for your website to create inbound back links.

6. Social Bookmarking – Embed links on social site pages that link back to your website. This is an important part of your link building; again, its free and easy to do.

7. Comment on Blogs and Create TrackBacks – Yes, we know that more and more blogs are preventing commenting and have nofollow prevention. However, you can still benefit from this process, it simply takes more time than it did in the past.

8. Post as a Guest – Make sure your comments on a blog are relevant and, if possible, insightful. This can help with your link building as well as possibly create more traffic to your site from the blog readers.

9. Web 2.0 Sites – Use Squidoo, HubPages, BlogSpot and others to create links to your site.

10. Press Releases – Distributing a press release on something of interest (but still related to your website) can create links to your site, generate traffic and can generate interest in your website as well.

There you go, get started and for quite some time you will be link building with the kind of results that you were hoping for.

SEO Myths

SEO Myths 1: Choose only obvious keywords

When you decide which keywords to use for your website you want to make sure to include not just those that are immediately obvious, but also those that you find through research later on. Make sure to include both those of specific relevance as well as those of general reference. You will get traffic from many different websites, so consider every page to be a marketing tool, and try to use as many key phrases as you can that are relevant.

Changes to Google

The top three listings that Google displays are the most sought after because these have the highest click through rates. Google search result pages now have triple listings on a trial basis. The tabbed browsing of Internet Explorer should be taken into consideration as this method uses more space.

Statistics to Consider Regarding Click Through Rate, or CTR

The top three results on search pages get 50 percent of the clicks, and the top result gets 60 percent of these clicks. This means that it is more important to get the top listing using less competitive search terms instead of aiming for a ranking on more difficult terms that will end up lower on the page. This is especially important now that shopping pages are inserted in the middle of the listings page by Google in many instances.

SEO Myths 2: Lots of Resources are Required for SEO

Do your on-site SEO right away, but don’t delay long when it comes to link building, as this is what will make it so that your site actually makes money. Use all relevant phrases to build links so that you can get more profit from your website. Prioritize your resources so that you can get as many top rankings for phrases as possible.

Tactics to Minimize Cost

It will take a lot more work to get top rankings if you don’t have a lot of money to spend to get the top listings for SEO. You can use strategy in order to keep ahead of the competition as they start to focus on keywords with less and less competition. Made for AdSense sites and article spinning are not going to be enough as webmasters start stepping up their games.

SEO Myths 3: Choose Short Keywords

Although short keywords might be preferred, this is not always the case. Sometimes you can make more money using long tail phrases. The higher a keyword phrase is ranked the more money you will get for pay per click ads and the more clicks you will get. This makes it important to choose the right key phrases and aim high when it comes to SEO and PPC.

SEO Myths 4: Amateurs Will Soon be Out of the Market

Those who are relying on blogs that are fully automated and lots of spun content will not last long if they don’t watch out. Volume is important, but Google will start to filter out sites that don’t have real content when the sensitivity levels are increased. It is best to use real content for your sites.

SEO Myths 5: It Takes a Long Time to Get Content

It is possible for you or an assistant to create ten pages of content in just thirty minutes by screening RSS feeds that are related to your site’s topic. Using this type of aggregation system can help you to keep your content fresh and create a larger site through including inbound links that are aimed toward the pages you need. Then you can create feeder sites that link back to your sites, or even better, linkwheel sites. More pages and more links mean more page rank.

It Isn’t Hard to Get Great Content

Getting content generated by your users is a great strategy. The more pages you have with good content and links to your sites the better. If you bookmark your sites and have them considered as industry bookmarking site you will be better off.

SEO Myths 6: PageRank is Important

You generally don’t have to worry about PageRank as long as your site’s cache is up to date and Google is indexing your page. The PR device was meant more for a toolbar value ad so that they could get more tool bars into browsers.

SEO Myths 7: It is Difficult to Get Links

Posting on relevant forums is a great way to get more links to your site. The links are considered to be of higher quality if the forum is closely related to the topic of your site. You can find topics with the right theme if you use the search function. It isn’t necessary to get high PR backlink reports each month.

10 Tips for Successful Link Building

The simple fact is that the website that creates the most respected, pertinent and keyword optimized content gets the best rankings online. Following are ten way for you to achieve your goal of optimizing your website by link building but before that, here are a few Do’s and Don’ts for you to consider.

DO – Ensure your anchor text changes. Yes, you should use your anchor text links for your main keywords but don’t forget to use your basic URL as well as incorporating click here options. People will actually look for that.

DO – Link to your secondary pages. Yes, your landing page is important, however, there are times where it makes sense to link to your secondary pages. For example, if you are writing an article on a specific product you sell then link to that product rather than your homepage.

DO – Have patience. If you want to be ranked then you have to go about the process naturally. Work on your link building every day and don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results in a week.

Don’t – Buy links! Google looks for natural occurrences of your link and link building sites will simply post your links onto directory sites. This isn’t natural and it won’t help your rankings and will waste your money.

Don’t – Stick with only one things. Dofollow links are great but they aren’t your only option and if you want your links to be natural then you need to use more resources.

Google Caffeine – Shake Up!!!

Google caffeine. Alot of people just got rich. Some have lost all of their rankings. Hope you are not one of the latter. Personally? Love it… at least for my old sites. My rankings have increased and so has my bottom line.

As for new sites?

Jury is still out on this one. I just launched 5 new sites this month and not sure yet of how GC is going to react. My marketing/SEO methods are not anything special, but here is my strategy-

  • Blog with ALOT of unique content
  • HAMMER the site with links right out of the gate

That’s it. I barely even do kw research. Has this changed? For the next week or two I am just drip feeding links until I see a little traffic and then I pull out the hammer.
